I want to let you know that my income has changed because of coronavirus.  
Unfortunately, I have *lost my job/my income has reduced.
This change means I don’t currently have enough money to pay the full amount of rent.  I am therefore writing to see if we can come to an agreement about payment.
My proposal is to pay a reduced amount of rent in the sum of *£… per month until *… , after which we can review the agreement.
*I have applied for benefits and am waiting for my first payment.  I have been told that the first payment of universal credit can take up to 5 weeks.   
If  I receive universal credit, depending on how much I am given, I may be able to increase my rent payments.
*I was on the government's Self-employment Income Support Scheme.
*I was placed on the government's Job Retention Scheme which means that I was not receiving my usual full income. 
I’ll keep you informed of any changes to my income so that we can sort out  a repayment plan as soon as possible.
Given that this is a difficult time for both of us, I hope that we can come to an agreement and work together during this period of uncertainty.
