Harry’s Story

18 year old Harry had a difficult upbringing; he was physically disabled and struggled with his mental health. Harry spent time in supported accommodation whilst waiting for adaptations to be made to his future home, which would better suit his needs. Living with a large group of people made him anxious and he was struggling to cope with his new living arrangements. When he tried to express his concerns and reached out for help, his worries were ignored and his mental health issues were overlooked. He couldn’t stay any longer.

Harry became homeless.

Shelter Cymru was founded on the belief that everyone in Wales has the right to a decent, secure home. Yet each day, another 8 young people – just like Harry – become homeless.

Your donation means we can be there when we’re needed most, helping people to fight for their rights, get back on their feet and find and keep a home. Our vital support is free of charge and available to anyone in Wales who needs it.

Donate today so that we can continue to help people just like Harry to find a safe place to call home.
