Converted contracts: supported accommodation

  • If you receive support as part of living in your home you might be living in  ‘supported accommodation’
  • If you had an assured shorthold tenancy in supported accommodation before 1 December 2022 you might have a converted supported standard contract
  • Get help if you are not sure what type of renting agreement you have

If you moved into supported accommodation before 1 December 2022 the type of renting agreement you have after that date will depend on certain circumstances.

If you had an assured shorthold tenancy in supported accommodation before 1 December 2022 your agreement might have become a converted supported standard contract. If this applies to your agreement has different rules to other types of supported standard contracts. Please see our advice page here.

If you moved in after 1 June 2022 you probably continued with a licence or common law tenancy after 1 December 2022.

It can be difficult to work out what type of renting agreement you have in supported accommodation. If you are unsure, or if you are given notice asking you to leave supported accommodation, get help.
