Managing rent arrears: Advice, guidance and best practice for landlords

Over the course of recent years Shelter Cymru has undertaken several pieces of work on the issue of evictions from social housing. Through these we have sought to understand the drivers of evictions, the challenges social landlords face in managing them and to work to provide advice and guidance that will help to minimise evictions and to realise a goal of ending evictions into homelessness from social housing. The intention of this report is to promote shared learning and conversation in the sector to ensure that all social landlords are working creatively and proactively with their tenants, particularly those households that may struggle with the notion of engagement. Across Wales, social landlords are adopting more person-centred approaches as Wales strives toward becoming a trauma informed nation.
