Shelter Cymru exists to defend the right to a safe home in Wales and fight the devastating impact the housing emergency has on people.
We help thousands of people each year by offering free, confidential and independent advice and campaigning to overcome the root causes of the housing emergency.
We are now looking to recruit for the following position to join our team. If you want to help end homelessness in Wales, we would love to hear from you.
An exciting opportunity has now arisen at Shelter Cymru for a Private Rented Sector Support Worker to provide operational contact for any landlords accessing the My Home Denbighshire service.
My Home Denbighshire is a large and exciting project working practically across the Denbighshire local authority locality area to prevent homelessness at its very earliest stages. It is funded by
Denbighshire County Council and provided in partnership with Clwyd Alyn supported by Nacro, NRLA & TGP.
Very often people approach homelessness services for support and assistance when at crisis stage, and options for help can be few and limited. By working assertively and proactively, this project offers effective early intervention and support – we, our partners and other organisations working together in the county identify and engage with people to prevent any homelessness risk factors/problems from escalating towards potential loss of a home.
We know that a lot of homelessness in Denbighshire is due to tenancies ending in the private rented sector. As part of this role you will be providing practical information and signposting landlords/agents in relation to a property. You will also provide early intervention support to PRS tenants with the objective of preventing a situation escalating into homelessness. Where there is no prospect of saving the tenancy, the project team will work with tenants to seek alternatives to avoid homelessness.
Shelter Cymru recruits based on merit and wants a workforce that reflects the diversity of individualsin housing need. We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic people who are currently under-represented within our workforce

An exciting opportunity has now arisen at Shelter Cymru for an Early Intervention Worker to join our exciting new project to prevent homelessness at its very earliest stages, funded by Denbighshire County Council and working in partnership with Clwyd Alyn.
Often, people approach homelessness services for support and assistance when at crisis stage, meaning options for help can be few and limited. By working assertively and proactively from the start, this project will offer effective assistance well before this would usually occur – we, our partners and other organisations working together in the county will identify and engage with people much earlier on, to prevent any homelessness risk factors/problems from escalating.
The Early Intervention Project will either deliver itself or provide direct links to a whole range of interventions that will prevent the risk of homelessness. These include housing, financial inclusion and welfare benefits information, guidance and support, employment, training and education services and health, well-being and social care advice amongst others. Shelter Cymru Early Intervention Homelessness Workers (EIHWs) are key to this approach as the first point of contact and support.
Shelter Cymru offers a high level of support, a welcoming work environment and an excellent package of benefits – for further details of the key benefits available please visit the recruitment page of our website
